Thomas Daenen

Thomas enriched his academic career, which began at the University of Liège, by graduating magna cum laude with an LL.M. from the University of Cologne in Germany. His professional experience has led him to work for prestigious law firms in Germany (Linklaters), Luxembourg (NautaDutilh) and Belgium (Koan).

Thomas has acquired in-depth expertise in Belgian corporate law, but also, through his international experience, in cross-border transactions, particularly in the Benelux countries and France.

As a lawyer with a passion for corporate law and entrepreneurship, Thomas founded Beyond Law Firm in 2016 with the aim of offering tailored legal services to innovative and fast-growing companies.

Thomas is the trusted lawyer of many Belgian start-ups and scaleups, as well as established companies and investment funds active in the digital and tech sector.

With a wealth of professional experience, Thomas advises and litigates in the fields of corporate and commercial law. He assists his clients on a daily basis in a variety of transactions, mainly mergers and acquisitions, fundraising and (re)structuring.

Thomas is known for being creative, pragmatic and attentive to the economic issues at stake in the transactions he handles. Describing himself as a deal maker, he seeks pragmatic solutions that are generally achieved through effective negotiation.

Thomas is also often asked to act as a legal coach and speaker at numerous events and start-up incubators.
